Q: What is Fairy Tail?
A: A Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hiro Mashima. The series follows the adventures of Lucy Heartfilia, a teenage wizard who joins the titular wizards' guild and teams up with fellow guild member Natsu Dragneel as he searches for the dragon Igneel.
Q: Where do I go to make my character?
A: You can make your character at the Character Creation board.
Q: Where is the Mage type list?
A: Ha ha! There is none at all! You see, you create your own type of mage, as well as spells during the character application process.
Q: What are face claims, where is the face claim thread and if I post in it does it mean only my character can look like my claim?
A: Face claim is a reference for your character's appearance. The face claim thread can be found here. Yes, it means only your character can look like that person. We don't want too many look-alike around here! Unless you and your friend are twins or some plot thing going on for you two? Well, you get the point. =P
Q: What guilds can I join?
A: You can look at the Guild board. Generally, it's where all guilds will be posted and updated.
Q: Can I create my own guild?
A: Yes. However, before the site sees it as an official guild it needs at least three members that are active for one month. Then you get your own sub board in the guild section, and even a board for people to join said guild during character application.
Q: How fast is the process of getting my character application passed?
A: That depends really. If there's nothing wrong with your application, it can get passed within five minutes. If there's problems with it then it depends how fast you can make the edits.
Q: Why are there some mage types that are not accessible from the start, or not available at all?
A: For a couple of reasons, actually. One, so not everyone is the same type of mage. That's not being creative at all. Sure, we would probably all like to start as Dragon Slayers, but that's just unrealistic and boring. Mage types that are banned have been deemed to be too powerful for the site. Such as teleportation or a pure gravity user.
Q: What do you look for in character applications?
A: First off, length. This is one of the common problems in application. Two paragraphs in appearance and personality are fine. History at least needs to be three paragraphs. Spells are generally the biggest problem for people, due to the fact that people go out of their type, elemental affinity, or just try to be way too strong for their level. To help to get things to run smoothly in this area, look at other accepted profiles and their spells. Also, try to look in our Spells guide.
Q: How fast can I switch items/armor/weapons in battle?
A: It takes about three posts (each battle post takes about 6 seconds).
Q: OK, I gotten accepted, now what do I do?
A: You can do some missions with other members to earn your character some Jewels and EXP, or do some solo missions. You can create a thread that could be open for any one to join and role play with them, or even ask someone in the cbox/via PM if they would like to join.
Q: Can we upgrade spells or make brand new ones after creation?
A: Yes! Please see here for more details.
Q: What is the site plot exactly?
A: We are mainly a plot-less site itself. Though, we do have things like, temporary plots, guild events, mini events, global events, etc.
Q: What are skills?
A: Skills are talent you buy with your skill points (which you earn for every post you make). Once you buy them, it makes your character a little stronger and better in certain areas.
Q: Can I make my own skill?
A: Of course!
Q: What do the skill levels cost?
A: The prices are, 15 for the starter, 20 for that next level, 60 for the third level, 100 for the fourth level, and finally 120 for the fifth level.
Q: Can I buy spells for mage types I haven't unlocked yet?
A: No, if you haven't bought the type yet, you cannot buy it. If you do, this could cause a lot of confusion and trouble for you.
Q: What's the Inception board exactly?
A: The Inception board is considered to be a non-canonical dream world, where anything that happens in the threads has no effect on the rest of the RP forum. From befriending people that would never wish to befriend one another in the actual roleplay boards, to fighting other members to the death. If your character dies in the Inception Board, he/she is still alive and well in the rest of the forum.
Q: What is the main difference between the levels of Mages?
A: A higher level Mage can buy and use a more powerful set of spells. Also, a higher level mage will naturally have more magic energy. Meaning they can use more spells as well. While a low mage can use like, five spells before exhaustion, a mid level mage can use ten spells. This is just an example though.
Q: Can I get a stellar key and use it without being a stellar mage?
A: No you cannot. You need to be a stellar mage to use those keys.
Q: Can I go into other types and combine my magic for new attacks?
A: You can unlock more types by spending skill points. You are allowed to combine types into new attacks. Like, combine fire and wind to create a fire tornado or something.
Q: Can I use skill points to unlock the types that need to be earned through events?
A: No. It would unbalance the site too much if everyone could access it so easily.
Q: Are there other ways to get exp or rewards besides posting or doing missions?
A: Yes, you can. You can do this by referring people, by advertising, or by competing in contests. There is also the blogging advertisement.
Q: Can I combine types or make a type that can Teleport?
A: No you cannot. That can be abused way to easy.
Q: Can we have a pet with magic?
A: Yes, but it's Limited! Please see Pets Information For more details.
