Riley merely nodded to his words, closing her eyes and continuing forwards, she paused only when she heard the gasp, her eyes popping open as she stared at him over his shoulder - well aware that there was something different about him, if the crescent moon on his forehead was any indication of anything. Turning to face him entirely, a brow arched slightly as Durriken began to speak up, and though the voice referred to her politely, it was obviously not him that was speaking these words.
Riley frowned a bit as the voice told her of Durriken's loyalty, while threatening her not to abuse it - which was something she didn't think she was doing anyways. Was she? Hearing it out loud made her doubt herself a bit, and she appeared more bothered still as the voice told her that she was walking a dangerous path. In trying to do good, she faced a possibility of doing, terribly, terribly things.
Her cheeks twitched a bit, not at the chilling feeling of the eyes boring through her so, but at the realization that she had lost parts of her that were very important. Her mercy, her compassion, and her understanding, seemed to have all but vanished from her, when it regarded people that didn't belong to her guild, or wronged her in some way. She knew she had to find a balance between the two sides of her - the gentle, compassionate Riley, and the battle weary, toughed version of herself that knew when to lay down the law.
The presence in Durri faded, leaving him confused. For a few moment, she remained where she was, simply staring at the ground, but she began to approach him like this, without looking at him. She stopped when she was directly in front of him, practically chest to chest with him, and remained here for a moment.
"I'm sorry..." She softly responded, sounding a little more like her old self than she had previously. The young woman felt compelled to hug him, and she did just that, wrapped her arms around his torso as she still refused to look at him, "I seem to have forgotten that I am no longer dealing with demons..." Riley quietly told him, closing her glossy looking eyes for a moment as she did so.
"I'm the one that needs to change... I'll try my best to be a better person, and to be more like I was before..." She promised, not really wondering any longer what had possessed him. With the way the voice had talked, and how protective of him it was, it certainly had to be one of his cards, at least that's the only logical explanation that Riley could think up.
