Piers scratched the back of his head. He wasn't sure where to start in Onibas, having just recently arrived there. No, government affairs weren't why he was in Onibas. It was quite his own choice, to get acquianted with a nice town like it. He figured that he could do with some time away from the government as he felt that it wasn't exactly his calling. Nonetheless, he decided upon seeing where he would end up. Onibas just happened to be the town. Despite the weapon hanging from his back, Piers looked relatively normal for anyone who was a mage, as many dressed as they willed. Where to start first then...?, Piers thought as he started walking.
He breathed in the very essence of Onibas on an active day. The sun, was high and bright. The less breeze the better. Few clouds littered the sky above Onibas. The buildings he seen didn't stick out to him. He found them plain and boring with no other interesting thing about them. He kept a nonchalant face about him, despite how he felt. He had also heard, from the government of the different mage guilds and that Griffin Wing, a very popular guild resided in Onibas. Though, he already knew that. There were two Wizard Saints from that guild, and it was a guild with much promise as such. It's a real shame I didn't give any thought about a mage guild before I joined the government as a Rune Knight. Perhaps it's not too late to just... leave?, he thought as he continued wandering Onibas.

Like most days, Riley could be found about the guild the Griffin Wing, though she was not doing anything in particular at present, she could be found looming near the entrance of the guild. The steps of the guild were large, wooden steps, mighty and sturdy, and the girl was sitting there peacefully, enjoying a peach that she had bought from a vendor just down the street, and simply watching the townsfolk as they passed by. She smiled at them as they passed, occasionally waving or exchanging greetings with the people - she was a rather well known person in Onibas, after all. Even if she did not know the people, they knew of her, and she was happy to interact with anyone that cared to speak to her.
As she finished up her piece of fruit, she rose to her feet, taking a moment to toss the pit into a trashcan before stretching a bit lazily. The dark haired young woman looked thoughtful for a few moments, as she crossed her arms over her chest and leaned back some on her heels, contemplating what she wished to do next.
Nothing really stood out to her, so she began to descend the steps to the street, glancing around a little as she went. Unlike usual, she was not weary her heavy jacket, rather, she was simply sporting the sleeveless black turtleneck that clearly and proudly displayed her guild logo upon the upper portion of one of her arms. The logo was colored entirely in black, as dark as her hair, and stood out rather easily against her pale skin.
With a bit of a wave to someone she recognized, she wandered away from the guild just a little ways - towards the food vendors once more, as she was apparently rather hungry.

He found himself walking by the guild's entrance, and towards what he would describe as delicious food. The smell was simply irresistable, an unstoppable force. He was instantly tantalized by the enticing smell of every single dish he could name. Piers shook it off, he probably shouldn't eat too much. He also wasn't the only person walking towards it. He noticed a face that he only seen pictures of, but nonetheless he recognised it. That's her isn't it... one of the Wizard Saints, he thought as he walked towards her, with the same nonchalant look upon him.
"Hey, you're a Wizard Saint aren't you? Riley Aquila, the guildmaster of the illustrious Griffin Wing.", he said to her, offering his hand to her. He gave a slight smile from the curve of his lip. "I've heard many things about the guild you lead. All these things could go either way for your guild, but the fact that you're a guild the Magic Council and Government cannot touch must be an impressive feat to know.", Piers stated to her. He gave a look that showed he forgot something. "Oh, I'm Piers Nivans. I'm just here traveling.", he added.

Riley perked up a bit as she heard someone nearby speaking, calling to her, in fact, as the unfamiliar voice soon used her name. Her green eyes turned towards the man, whom she did not recognize, though he seemed to know a little about her. He was a tad blunt, but it rolled off of her shoulders with ease as she offered him a smile as she responded, "why yes, that would be me," she answered, coming to a stop so as to not be rude.
"Well, the guild's history is one thing, but we have been working to clear our name, as it were. Though we still stand for the same things," she mused, reclining a little on the heels of her feet, she accepted his hand and shook it, her grasp a bit meek as physically she did not have a great deal of strength. "It's nice to meet you, Piers." She went on to say, slowly allowing her hand to fall to her side once more. "Have you come to Onibas for business or for pleasure?" She wondered, giving a bit of a smile once more, "whatever the case, Onibas is a nice city, I'm sure you can find something of interest to you," she mused, beginning to walk towards the smell of food once more, thought she gestured for him to walk as well, "would you like to walk and talk? I'm a bit hungry right now."

Piers gave a shy smile. It was a sure hint the boy was both completely quiet and at the same time, struck by the stars. "For pleasure, I'm not working so I figured it would be a nice change to learn about the scenery and all that. I must say I like Onibas already.", he added, scratching his stomach when she mentioned food.
"I think I'd rather sit and talk, I haven't eaten all day.", he said sheepishly, doubting that she knew who he worked for. Without a typical rune knight attire or any symbols declaring that Piers was a government agent, he pretty much shaped himself into a typical freelancing mage. He usually felt that way.
"How about that place?", Piers asked riley, pointing at a nearby establishment. The building seemed like an outdoor restaurant with round tables, and waiters and waitresses moved about taking orders. Piers seemed purely attracted because of the smell. "Smells like good food.", he stated.

Riley was a bit surprised when the male suggested they sit and talk. She hadn't really thought that he wanted her for anything, but it seemed that he might have had something to say to her - or perhaps he just wanted company while he ate. Whatever the case, she smiled and gave a bit of a nod, "sounds great." She commented, looking as he indicated to a restaurant, "ahh, they have some of the best sweets in town!" She exclaimed, just a little excitedly.
The dark haired girl made her way towards the restaurant, waiting only a moment to be seated as a waitress scurried over to them, making Riley chuckle a little to herself as she followed at the woman, whom placed them at a table that gave her a nice view of the guild. They were handed menus, and she reclined a little in her chair, glancing at it for a moment before looking towards Piers.
"So, why Onibas?" She wondered, sounding genuinely curious.

"I've asked myself the same question since I arrived. I've always heard about Griffin Wing where I work. They were a popular topic, controversial too. I'm sure you could I assume I work with the government. Yes I do. No, I'm not here to inquire. Time can pass and yet they will not change their minds. I however, turn green with envy. I'd rather more freedom than I get with the Government.", Piers stated.
He ran the words through his mind again. "I guess what I'm getting to is that I want into Griffin Wing.", he stated. He kept silent after that, his hand clasped together. He gazed upon Riley, trying to judge her reaction based on her facial expression. But he wouldn't be surprised if she was skeptical about him joining. "So, to answer your question. I came here, to Onibas, as an escape from what binds me directly to the past. Cutting loose ends and all that."
He glanced down at the menu, thinking about what he should order.

Riley arched a brow at him as he told her of his interest in Griffin Wing, and of the fact that he was currently working for the government. She listened intently as he explained his situation - knowing well enough that it could all be a ploy by the government to see into Griffin Wing, to try to dig up dirt and them and tear them apart...
And yet, she found herself unable to reject Piers, whom was searching some something more. She knew that it would have been wiser of him to hide his government ties, but appreciated the honesty as she let out a bit of a sigh.
"Mages are always allowed to join Griffin Wing, regardless of their history, as long as they take the guild mark upon their body and abide by a few simple rules," she assured him, her fingers lightly tapping the menu, "you must never abuse your magic, nor use it to hurt innocent people. You must never kill anyone, unless they avidly seek to take your life or the life of someone else. Simple things, really, but very important," she softly pointed out, looking at him somewhat curiously as she did so, "besides that, you may do as you please. Come and go as you like, choose your own missions, sleep all day, party all night, whatever suits you," Riley told him, giving a bit of a shrug as she too returned her attention to the menu.

"I guess Griffin Wing is what I longed for. Not that I had any commitment to the Government anyway. All of them don't know how to keep their shoes tied.", he stated with a laugh, showing a more open side. "Hmm...", he mumbled out, running his hand along the menu as the waitress came back to take their order. "I think I'll just have the caeser salad.", he stated. He felt like it had been ages since he had a meal where he could actually talk to someone.

"Well, you're free to join and find out for certain," she pointed out, never one to push a person away. Her eyes scanned the menu a final time as the waitress came to them, and she set the menu down, folding her hands lightly in front of her on the table.
"I'll have a grilled cheese sandwich with bacon and pineapple, please," the young woman smiled at the waitress, who arched a brow at her but took their order for food, as well as drinks, before departing.
With this, Riley turned her full attention to Piers once more, her head tilting a little to one side, "hmm, so tell me a little about yourself?" She suggested, seeming curious, "well, if you want to. None of this will effect you joining the guild, I am simply curious to know a little more about you, since you seem to know a bit about me."

"I think the past, really doesn't matter.", he said, shifting around to remove his rifle. He then placed in on the table to stay comfortable. "I don't really have any family, just a brother.", he didn't seem intent on delving deeper into topics about his past or his family. He looked up into the sky and let out a sigh. He seemed lost now, but came back. "The past isn't something I want to face yet. I really just want to see mine erased."
He looked at the rifle. "My magic, I guess that's the only history I'll share. It's called Enchant.", he said, removing the glove from his right hand. "I can enchant objects with the power of magic for a short time. But it's very volatile and uncontrollable when used on humans, animals and unprepared equipment. That glove and any bullet I use with that rifle are compatible with my magic.", he added.

Riley chuckled softly, leaning back to fold her hands over her lap as she did so, "I wasn't exactly asking for your life's story, just a little about you, as a person," she assured. It wasn't like she could judge people for having a dark or strange past. At his comment about wanting to forget his past, she shrugged a bit, "the past makes us who we are. Even if it isn't always something that you wish to remember."
As he began to talk about magic, she watched him intently, clearly interested in what he was saying. "Oh, is that so?" She mused, raising one leg slightly to cross it over the other, "can you get any sort of weapon or item prepared for your magic? Like perhaps a sword or a ring?" She asked, glancing around as their drinks arrived. She picked up her milkshake and began to sip at it as she waited for an answer.

"A ring? I doubt you'd want that to be enchanted. But a sword, much easier. But it's better if the weapon is designed to handle and channel the enchant, or the results could backfire.", he stated as he raised his right hand. It seemed scarred from a burn, the extent of damage, only Piers knew. "The only time I attempt an Enchant on a human, was on myself. After that I kept it strictly to anyone who closed the distance against me. The effects are never guranteed. Sometimes my enemies become lightning rods.", he stated with a laugh.
"But I think I'm the only user of the Enchant magic. At that, the material used on the glove is just designed to conduct magic without any drawbacks. The rifle isn't meant to be enchanted directly either. Just the bullets.", he stated.

"Well, I guess it would depend on what sort of enhancements that you can do. If you can create protective enchantments, then a ring would be a useful item to enchant, simply due to its weight," she pointed out, unsure if he could only create certain enchantments, or if he could do more or less anything he wanted with it. She frowned a bit as he showed her the scarred hand, "have you tried seeing a person with healing magic? It might help a bit..." Riley commented, seeming a bit worried.
The young woman nodded a little to his words, glancing up as a waitress placed their food in front of them, she smiled and thanked the woman before looking to Piers once more, "now that I think about it, you could probably make a decent living by enchanting items for people," she commented, rather absently, as she picked up her sandwich and began to eat it.
"Truthfully I've been thinking about getting some enchantments done myself, I just can't decide what I want to do, so I'm biding my time until I'm certain of what I want."

"I can't really lead a normal life. Things just aren't normal for me.", he stated. Though the prospective idea of leading a plain and boring life appealed to Piers because he was worried about his brother's safety, he'd never be able to adjust due to their childhood for a while. "I swear there's a ghost following me.", he added, trying to make it clear that his past was to blame.
"I belong serving and protecting. I'm plain out no leader. I'm a great shot. Excellent at providing cover and recon I suppose too.", he stated, pointing to the rifle. "Feel free to look through the scope. It can see heat signatures, and that can make all the difference.", he felt somewhat satisfied talking with someone, but wanted to get up and do something else.
