Plot
Fiore is a broad land, with many more lands, countries, and continents beyond it, but the universe as a whole is referred to as 'Earthland'. This might seem a bit peculiar, until one comes to learn that there are other universes, alternate universes, in which the same people might exist - or at least, a person with the same name, and perhaps even the same general appearance - but with an entirely different personality.
Edolas is one such place. An universe alternate to Earthland, though it has one large, defining difference. While Edolas has magic items, and is powered by magic, the people there do not have any magical abilities of their own - though, they are capable of wielding weapons that make them seem as if they do.
Due to the lack of magical ability in the people of the land of Edolas, as well as a surge in population over the years, the magic that exists there naturally is depleting faster than it can replenish. Scientists in Edolas have been working around the clock, to try to find a means to introduce more magic into their world, or at least a simulated substance that could be used like magic. Many experiments have been proposed, funded, and finished, with little to no positive results, which led some to take more dangerous, drastic measures, bypassing the rules and regulations of their government in order to perform intricate experiments to try to draw in magic from other worlds.
This failed miserably, causing holes to form in the very fabric that held the world together. These 'holes', while visible and avoidable in theory, are capable pf sucking any person nearby into them, at which point they are reported to have disappeared entirely from Edolas, though some would occasionally return just as suddenly, claming to have been to a world not so different from Edolas, where the inhabitants could use magic freely, while also having no idea how they managed to get back.
Officials of Edolas began to explore the possibilities - all coming to a single viable conclusion. The mages were lost in an alternate world known as Earthland, likely without knowing where they were or how to return. Additionally, many believe it to be a good chance to solve some of Edolas' problems. Could the mages of Earthland introduce magic into their world, and replenish the exhausted mana of the planet? Could they save Edolas?
Perhaps, but the appearance of those from Edolas was also causing a stir in Earthland, when 'alternate' versions of people were starting to pop up and cause trouble, earning their Earthland counterparts bad reputations or just generally causing mischief and mayhem.
Participation
Anyone and everyone can participate in this event, simply by playing an alternate version of their character, from the land of Edolas. Remember, they have no magic, and while they might resemble their Earthland counterpart in appearance, they would other act like an entirely different person.
The Edolas version of your character is lost in a strange world, which resembles that of their world, but with a great deal more magic, and people that are able to use magic. They can have a weapon equipped with magic, if you so desire, and while you may choose the form of a weapon (sword, axe, staff, etc.), the effect will not be of your choosing.
The Edolas characters can do whatever you please, but your 'normal' character will have to investigate the appearance of doppelgangers and strange vortex like holes that have appeared throughout Fiore. These strange holes have a strong wind siphoning out of them that will not allow anyone to enter. That is all that is known at this point.
This event will be a little different, as you will at times be required to work together with other players. Additionally, the solution to this will remain a mystery, which must be solved. The first person to correctly guess this solution, will receive an additional bonus. The solution is a mystery to all but me, as such I am the only person not eligible for it.
