They have grown idle because of their separation, and are looking for a reliable courier to deliver their letters back and forth. It sounds simple enough, but if one whom did not want the letters to be delivered caught you in the act, there would surely be trouble. Reward: 225 Exp: 25

We FIGHT to live
We LIVE to fight
Everybody, with your fists raised high let me hear your battle cry tonight!
STAND BESIDE OR STEP ASIDE Shirotsume, the town of the rich. Many things happen to only the rich, those who live higher lives than those with less money. The stars were high in the sky, making it hard to see into the shadows that were created from the street lights. Only a special occasion would drag Sora into this mess. Sora was walking down the street with his hands in his pockets. There were no other people out because it was late out. Every now and then a person would pass by, but for the most part, the streets were empty.
His eyes were aimed straight ahead of him, he had finally gotten a job that was more up his alley. "You as excited about this job as I am?" Sora asked, his eyes becoming full of life. The job was to pickup a letter from one of the high class members of society and deliver it to another. One would immediately think there was no risk in the job, nothing special that would spice it up for any wizard who lived off these sorts of things. When he read the flyer he initially threw it off, but when he read the part about not letting the letter fall into the hands of anyone besides the designated person.
They were supposed to meet the person at the corner of "Dendrobium" and "Zephyranthes". That corner was just ahead of them. There was no light right on the corner, but even then, Sora could tell that there was no one standing in the shadows. After making his way to the corner he stopped before he hit a wall. "I guess we'll just have to wait for this person to show up," he muttered, trying to keep his voice down.
He didn't know how long he would have to wait, but he hoped it wouldn't be too long. It was already late, and Sora wanted to get this job done. A yawn escaped him in the slow motion that one normally feels when they yawn. He rubbed his face with his left hand, then let it slide down his face until it made its way back down to his side. "I just hope this client isn't some little kid, cause that is a small reward to be from some rich person."

Shirotsume Town, the place held a lot of memories for Koryu, ones fond and endearing, as well as painful. The cat grew up not far outside of the town, and lived a major portion of his life among the trees and grass of the rugged mountain countryside that the settlement was nestled within. It was here that Koryu took his first steps in the world, and it was also here where the true brutality of its occupants was shown to him, forever changing his view of humans and the land they called home. But Koryu tried to stifle such thoughts and recollections as he plodded along behind Sora, his mind blocking out the harsh images that his surroundings brought forth. He had a mission to complete in this town, and the cat was not about to let his past stop him from doing a job. And with as much pain as the town held for Koryu, the job they had taken was rather bitterly ironic.
In fact, if it wasn’t for the promise of a reward, Koryu might have refused to take the job at all. They were to deliver letters of love between two individuals, one of which, the poster of the notice, lived in Shirotsume Town, among the rich nobles and aristocrats of the settlement. It was a simple enough job in theory, and normally would have been rather dreary and boring, but the notice had also implied the possibility of confrontation along the way, which led to another reason the cat was willing to take the job. He was dying to stretch his wings in a fight; the guild had been rather quiet lately and all the jobs they took had been nothing more than simple errands and petty tasks, barely suitable for a mage. But a job that hinted at confrontation, well, now that was a job worth doing in Koryu’s book. And so, pushing any memories aside, and fully concentrating on the mission that lay ahead, the cat followed his partner into the sparkling town.
They walked down a well cobbled street, the stone path illuminated now and then by a flickering, warm glow as they passed one of the lampposts stationed alongside the road. High above the sky was a murky black void, the pale face of the moon hidden behind the mountains that lay near the town, the great pinnacles of rock only visible as massive shadows against the horizon. Only the stars glittered, though they offered no light, and all around the mages the area’s not displayed by lights of the town lay in deep, impenetrable shadow. The night itself was warm, and as Koryu slowly walked down the street a breeze of cool air washed across his fur, bringing with it scents of mountain flowers and dewy glens, scents all too familiar to the cat.
The silence was only broken by the light sound of Koryu’s paws hitting the smooth stone of the road, and the heavier thuds of Sora’s boots as they fell, until the dragon slayer asked whether his partner was excited for the job. The cat smirked, shrugging at the man in a carefree manner. ”Am I supposed to feel excited when doing some snooty brats dirty work?” While it was true that Koryu held no happiness at aiding some pampered fool too much a coward to deliver a letter, he also wouldn’t betray to his partner that he really did feel excited about the mission and what it might bring. Even if there wasn’t a fight to be had, it still meant Koryu would be able to walk through country that he had come to know and love.
Turning his eyes back towards the end of the street, Koryu quickly spotted the name of the crossing paths etched in golden characters on a neat little crimson signpost: “Dendrobium" and "Zephyranthes”. The corner that they now approached was the place they were supposed to meet the poster of the job, at least according to the paper they had grabbed. But even though the corner itself was bathed in darkness, the cat immediately could tell that they were alone as they drew near. Frowning, Koryu entered the corner, his dark silver fur merging with the shade as the pair came to a stop. Just what a noble would do; brings two strangers to do a simple task he doesn’t have the guts to do, and ends up late to the meeting he set himself. Brilliant. Sighing heavily, Koryu nodded in agreement as Sora mentioned that they would have to wait. Sure looked like it, although who even knew if the brat would end up coming at all.
The cat tilted an eye towards his partner as he watched the dragon slayer let out a stifled yawn, commenting at the same time how he hoped their client wasn’t simply a little kid, given the rather pitiful reward that was posted, at least for what kind of people they were dealing with. Leaning against the smooth face of a nearby building, Koryu crossed his arms, looking away from Sora and back towards the street they had come, scanning the patches of light for any sign of life, the town seemingly devoid of anyone being out of their homes. ”Kid or not, we don’t need the brat running home to his rich and influential father in tears with our names. We just need to get this job done, even if it means passing love notes to some ‘little princess’.” Closing his eyes, Koryu craned his ears, listening to the sounds of the night as he waited for the arrival of their client. The only thing that filled the air was the steady flow of the warm breeze fluttering through the trees, their muffled breaths sounding almost harsh against the calm of the night. Suddenly a night time bird screeched in the distance, the note piercing the air, but it vanished soon after, with still no trace of any human presence.
And then Koryu heard it, the sound of slow steps, as if someone was attempting to sneak towards them, but failing rather miserably. Opening a single eye, the cat looked for the source of the sound, and soon spotted a thin figure approaching them with purpose. As he stepped into the glare of a lamp Koryu noticed that he was wrapped tightly in a heavy, brown cloak, the cloth covering his entire body, save for the polished black boots on his feet and a small bit of protruding blonde hair that peeked out from the hood of the cloak. Opening both eyes now, the cat nudged Sora roughly in the leg, pointing with a paw towards the newcomer, keeping his full attention on him as the man stepped into the darkness of the corner, the figure being lost in the world of shadow with only the sound of his rasping breath betraying his continued presence. “Are…are y-you the mages that are supposed to he-help me?” The voice was whispered, but it still came out high pitched and nasal, and the man stuttered out his words as if his whole body was shaking in bottled fright. Glancing at Sora, Koryu waited to see what the dragon slayer would say. The cat wasn’t exactly good at talking to people, and it seemed as if one wrong word would send the noble flailing away, or simply give him a heart attack.

We FIGHT to live
We LIVE to fight
Everybody, with your fists raised high let me hear your battle cry tonight!
STAND BESIDE OR STEP ASIDE A breeze came down the street, ruffling Sora's coat. He felt the collar being pulled off to the side. The bottom part of his coat was tapping against his left leg. It would pull back, then come again and gently land on his leg, and the same motion repeated itself. He heard the person walking down the street because of the sound of his boots smacking against the street. The sound echoed between the sides of the street, making the sound stand out. He opened one of his orangish-golden eyes and looked over at the incoming cloaked figure. Once the figure came into sight, Sora closed the eye and took a deep breath.
The client had finally arrived and had come into the depths of the dark night. Sora kept his body the same way it was, sizing up the client with his now attentive eyes. He was trying to think of how to deal with this situation, or rather this job in general. Normally he would introduce himself and the guild he was representing, but that was towards older clients, or ones that would act professionally. Now that he was confronted by someone who was younger than him, Sora didn't know how to act. Should he treat the person like a child, like he was an older brother? Or should he ignore the client and still treat them like he normally did?
The Dragon Slayer was sure that this client was younger than him. The client would never hide themselves as though they were doing something wrong, at least none of the clients Sora had previously taken jobs from. Once the client stopped walking he spoke. The hooded figure asked them if they were the wizards who had accepted his job. Sora cringed at this obvious false voice. This was also the moment when he was sure that the client was a kid, someone trying to act older than they were.
Both of his eyes shot open wider than they were before, staring at the client before him. He suppressed the urge to just walk away because this person was not being professional and stepped away from the wall. Even with the shift in his stance, Sora could not see through the blackness that covered the youth's face. "Yeah, we're the wizards who accepted your job," he answered in a more grown up voice, trying to let the kid know that he should start acting professionally, even if he was scared.
"There's two of you?" The boy started, his voice becoming more confident and a little deeper, even if i was just an act. "I only see you?" He said, pointing at Sora.
A smile spread across Sora's face when he heard this. He had almost burst into a noisy amount of laughter, but he suppressed the urge. All he knew was that someone had just ignored his partner, and he didn't know how that would be taken, even if it was not an intentional mistake. What he didn't know, was how Koryu would react, he could only hope that his partner would control himself. "We're from the Kitsune Lament guild, is there any other information besides that on the flyer?" Sora questioned, hoping there would be more to the job that what was on the flyer for it had been a bit vague.
The boy pulled a beige envelope from under his cloak and held it out for Sora to take it. The Dragon Slayer did this nearly as soon as the envelop had been offered to him. He tried to inspect it under the small amount of moonlight that was out. However, this did not prove adequate for Sora since his eyes were that much of a use in the dark, he had to rely on his other senses. When he gave up on reading it, he handed it over to Koryu, hoping he could make something out of it.
"That letter needs to be delivered to the third story window above the entrance to the Zabi manor on the other side of town," the boy ordered in a false powerful voice.
This was as much as Sora could handle. His smile came back across his face. "Would you mind telling us who the lucky lady is?" He joked, trying to get the client to become flustered. The client tried to stay the same and give out no emotion, or at least not the emotions that were deemed weak, but he crumbled rather quickly.
"Her name is Lila, she is the prettiest girl in the town and..." He stopped talking once he realized he had broken down and had given away all the false maturity he had. His hands went up to take off the hood and reveal himself to Sora and Koryu, but that was stopped. Before he had a chance to pull the hood off Sora had stepped forward and stopped him from doing so.
"You're the client, it's not my place to pry into your reasons, I just wanted to know if you really liked this person enough to hire wizards to deliver your letter," Sora stated as he stepped back, "Koryu, how long do ya think it'll take for us to reach the other side of town?"
"Before you go, I should warn you, her father has hired a body guard of sorts and he won't let anyone get near the place!" The client exclaimed in a hushed voice.
"You don't need to worry about hat," Sora answered, his attitude becoming more serious, "We've accepted the job and will complete it no matter who gets in our way."
