.:: Day 1: The Nightmares Begin ::. It hadn't even been a day and already Yoichi was waking up in cold sweats and loud screams because of the nightmares. This had been the 4th time in one night. He stumbled out of bed, Barely managing to keep himself on his feet and falling more then a few times as he stumbled into the bathroom and laid his head over the sink, Washing his face off. He moved back into the bedroom and looked over at the bed, His face losing all color as he frowned deeply, Remembering everything that happened in that bed. He shut the bathroom door and moved to the Guild Masters office door. He locked it and activated the magic lock as well, Normally...Durriken would be in this office, However he hadn't moved his stuff yet so Yoichi remained where he had always been. He sat down at the Guild Masters desk after grabbing a few of his books, Slowly flipping through the pages, His eyes scanning the contents of the pages as though looking for something.
Yoichi couldn't sleep, There was no way he could...Everytime he went to sleep he had nightmares about losing Riley...About her being killed right in front of him...Her dying in his arms, Her blood stained across his body unable to do anything to save her or keep her safe as he had sworn to do. His mind was slowly wearing away on itself. He didn't know it now, But he was slowly driving himself insane. He was one of the few Guild Members allowed upstairs because of his connection to Riley...And nobody, Especially right now, Dared to stop him from returning to the Guild Masters Office. The only person in the guild that would probably try would be Durriken simply because he was now the Guild Master and Riley wasn't...But Durriken hadn't made any attempts too yet. Yoichi spent that entire night flipping through book after book, Trying to find something somewhere but never finding anything. When morning finally came, He was still flipping through countless books. Books lay strewn across the floor and desk, His eyes heavy as he forced himself to stay awake.
He wouldn't sleep until he had Riley back...He wouldn't let himself sleep until he had Riley back. Alas, He didn't stay awake long as around 8A.M. he fell asleep on the desk, The door remaining locked and sealed so only Durriken and Riley could get in without setting off the alarm and risking death due to waking an already tempermental Yoichi.

.:: Day 2: A Lost Yoichi ::. It'd been almost an entire day now since Yoichi had returned to Griffin Wing. When he woke, He went downstairs. It was clear in his eyes that he didn't sleep very well the night before and who could blame him? Most stayed out of his way and didn't talk to him, Only the barkeep bothered saying anything to him and even then..It was very small, Just some very small banter between the two to try and get Yoichi to smile but alas, It didn't work. He got the usual but instead of eating it there, He took it back upstairs to the Guild Masters Office. He locked the door behind him and returned to the desk, Eating at the desk as he flipped through the pages of the books still. What was he searching for? He didn't actually know...All he knew was that he was searching for something...Maybe it wasn't even in a book...He wanted to find Riley, So the first logical thing was to check his books, Try and find something that might help him locate her, Or to get her to come back to him.
He didn't return downstairs the entire day, The barkeep bringing him lunch and dinner and leaving it outside of the door for him to take when he felt like it. He did eventually grab them and leave the empty plates and whatnot outside the door, However never did he leave the room. He wasn't going to leave the room until he found what he was searching for. Countless books were tossed on the ground, Pages flipped thorugh slowly as he examined everything, He read between the lines, Used his Meter Sunglasses to try and find hidden text or meanings...Nothing, Never did he find anything. It was a wild goosechase at best he figured, But he wouldn't quit....Riley wouldn't quit. If he left without a word, Riley would've wanted to find him..and she wouldn't have stopped until she did...just like before.
His fist slammed into the table "DAMN IT!" He shouted outloud "Why cant I find it!?" He cried, Throwing the book against the wall and grabbing another and starting to read through it as well, Gritting his teeth and growling as he kept reading. He wasn't finding anything at all. All he was doing was reading the same spells from before, The same useless spells that were always in these books. All about death and destruction, Nothing about locating anyone, Or retrieving a lost soul. But, He couldn't stop. He still had a mountain of books to read and if he took a break now...He'd never get through them all. Yoichi had never read all these books, He had never had the time or the patience to do so. All of these books were left by his deceased parents who had a unique fondness and expertise in magic. He read several texts on ancient family heirlooms, But none of them would help with his search sadly.
What was Yoichi going to do? What if he never found Riley again? What if...Riley was gone forever this time? Riley had promised never to leave willingly...This couldn't of been her just deciding to leave...Something or someone was behind this, Yoichi knew it in his gut...Riley wouldn't leave after making a promise like that...For the entire day he stayed in the room, Reading countless pieces of ancient text and letters to try and find something in the ancient books left to him by his parents, and never once did he find what he was searching for this day.

It was the 3rd day since Yoichi had locked himself away and it was starting to show. His obsession with the magic that lay in his ancient tomes had begin 'leaking' as one might put it. Though Yoichi hadn't noticed it himself, Someone else might notice it instantly, A faint tinge of purple began glowing out from under his clothes. Some might say this was a side-effect of his obsession, Others would say it might be a side-effect of how much magic he was intaking and not releasing anything. Normally for most mages, They were casting spells every single day so any side-effects of not casting it for 3 days in a row would be unknown. Add to that, Yoichi had been reading tome after tome of ancient languages and magics, An endless amount of different spells and reciting different incantations to himself to try and get a feel for the language.
Though it wasn't obvious to Yoichi, There was something changing inside of him and his obsession was the root cause of it. Increased aggression, decreased motivation to do anything but find Riley...Insanely increased Magical Strength...Yoichi was changing alright, But what was changing exactly? Who knew? The actual cause of his changes were unknown to even him, And his changes were completely unknown to just about everyone. The only ones who might've been able to notice the spikes in power were the Higher levels in the guild such as Durriken and the Bartender. Yoichi had changed a lot since he first arrived at Griffin Wing, He'd grown stronger...Faster, Smarter....But he had nothing to do with that power, That speed, That intellegence...Now, He finally did. Sadly for him, This came at a grevious price, His sanity.
You see, With power comes great responsibility...What was Yoichi's responsibility with his new power? To find Riley Aquila...Since he had failed to yet do that...His power was growing restless. The magic that was infusing itself with him had a mind of its own, Much like some of his spells did, If he didn't sate it's thirst, It'd grow restless and start having more severe side effects, Thankfully when he would begin looking they'd stop but until then they'd grow worse and worse and if left unchecked...It might end up costing his life. Either way, Yoichi wouldn't care anyway. He just wanted to find Riley and he'd do everything he had too in order to do so, that is, As long as it didn't go against Riley's word. If there was one thing about Yoichi that didn't change aside for his love for Riley, It was that he wouldn't ever do anything that went against a promise he made to her or against something she told him not to do.

4 days now....4 Days Yoichi had lockedhimself in his room, And 4 days Yoichi had been studying those strange books. The runes along his body glowing brightly under his white coat, The large guild emblem of the Griffin Wing Guild was also glowing the same purple tinge. The barkeep noticed he'd been eating less and less each day, His plate a little more full each time he came up to collect it and probably the only one in the guild that dared go near the Guild Master Office thus far. Though he was still a Mid-level mage, Even some of the high-level mages feared something like this, Nobody exactly knew what was happening inside that office, The only things that were known were: Purple lighting coming from the office, The door was sealed shut, And Yoichi hadn't been seen by anyone in 4 days and yet they all knew he wasn't gone, Or...So they thought.
So what was happening in those 4 days aside from Yoichi's mind slowly twisting and being warped into something else? Well, For starters...The 'Yoichi' that everyone knew....Well, Let's just say he was resting. And that Magical runes that now encased his entire body? Well, Let's just say that 'Yoichi' wasn't the one controlling his body anymore. So who, Or what, was? ............ Magic. The very thing that Mages used to fight with, Do their chores, Cook, Clean, Anything...The very thing they all 'controlled' to their whim, Was now the thing that controlled Yoichi's body. So what was it doing? The same thing that Yoichi had been....Studying, Learning, Evolving. Evolving into what though? Who knew...As far as history was concerned, This was the first time anyone had ever experienced this. What was 'Magics' goal for his body? To carry out his will of course. Yoichi wanted Riley, What had he done lately that might drive her away? Well...A lot, And now, Through the help of Magic, He was going to correct all of his Mistakes...'Magic' was going to bring Riley back, One way or another.

Durriken was giving Yoichi space to deal with Riley being gone but after four days he had had enough. He left his office and walked the ten feet to what used to be Riley's door. He then banged his fist hard on the door when he noticed it was locked. His fist rattled the door but did not break it since he was smarter than to break down doors willy nilly.
He looked at the Griffin on the top of the door and adjusted it to deactivate the alarm. That annoyed him a bit since he was the one that had that spell made and he would be strengthening it and changing it once he got in there and had access to the spell structure hidden on her side of the door. The runes were hidden skillfully within the wood grain on the molding and would take a very skilled eye to see and manipulate.
"Yoichi open this door right now." Durriken shouted through the door as a courtesy.
He could easily pick the lock and get in but this was more of a test of Yoichi to see if he would open it of his own accord. He would be more angry if he had to bust into his own office but he would do so if he really needed. |

A voice...A familiar voice, Durriken. Therewas no vocal response to Durriken's demands, Instead when he began tinkering with the runes he'd feel a blast of raw magic shoved through the door. Yoichi wouldn't have done this as he knew who Durriken was, However the 'Magic' didn't care. It would fulfill Yoichi's wishes no matter the cost as Yoichi had stated. It wasn't a blast that was meant to deal damage, It was more of a *Leave me alone I'm studying* blast and that was the message that was actually carried with it. When it would surge through Durriken, He'd get that very feeling and message mentally, If he would pick his way into the room then he'd find Yoichi sitting at the desk, Floor littered with books and a pair of shattered glasses laying on the desk on top of a bunch of books. There were dents in the walls from where Yoichi had thrown books to the side in his frustration and there were empty bags upon empty bags lying everywhere from where Yoichi had pulled books from. Upon entering, He'd have a book slam against the wall though this probably wasn't aimed at him since Yoichi immediately went to another book and continued his studies.

Durriken sighed not realizing it wasn't Yoichi that was speaking to him. The man worked with runes so it wasn't far of a stretch for him to manipulate the ones on the door. The only reason he wasn't being more careful was cause he knew at Yoichi's current level, none of the spells could affect him. He reached into his bag, pulled out a set of lock picks before kneeling on one knee, and began to fiddle with the lock. The gentle tapping sound of metal on metal could be heard as he manipulated the tumblers within the lock mechanism. With a small louder clunk, he heard the last one fall into place and he awkwardly turned the entire lock set unlocking the door.
When he saw the strange aura around Yoichi he reached into his bag and pulled out his meteor sunglasses and clicked them on before entering the room further. He was very cautious since it was clear that Yoichi's magic changed drastically now that he had a good look at him. He frowned when he saw there were dents all over the wall, those would come out of Yoichi's future missions as well since they were not there when Riley left a week ago.
"You really need to go Yoichi, this isn't healthy and I need to get the office ready so I can start thinking about who my new assistant will be." He said. His voice held no anger but it also held an unmovable characteristic, one that made it clear that Durriken was not going to take no for answer. |

Though it wasn't visible from Durriken's view, Yoichi's eyes had stopped moving when he spoke, His eyes slowly closing as the book was slowly folded closed. It seemed like Yoichi was simply going to give into Durriken's request without so much as a struggle.........Until he stood up. As Yoichi rose, It became increasingly obvious that this wasn't the Yoichi that had kicked down the door to Durriken's old room, Considering how long he'd been locked away in this room and the lack of sleep in his eyes....This wasn't something that Yoichi would've done. "Yoichi is sleeping, If you wish to wake him then you will be asked to leave his presence now. He is tired and requires rest and as such, Nobody will be allowed to disturb him until he deems himself rested" He said, His voice had changed since he entered the room, It was both his own voice....and someone or something elses. The glow got brighter as he stood up, Probably due to him not being so scrunched up as he was in the seat.
He placed the book on the table and moved to the door, Closing it slowly "I have no intention on leaving this room until I find either a way to track the Mage known as Riley Aquila or until I find her location. Yoichi Sugiyama has set his heart on finding her and refused to give up despite his lack of sleep. I have taken over his body so that he may rest and I nourish his body with what it needs through his own Magic and what this 'barkeep' as he calls him provides though it is more then an ample amount for each 'meal'" He said, Walking back over to the desk "You may occupy this space if you need too however I will not leave until I have found what Yoichi Sugiyama is looking for. I do not care why he is looking for this Mage nor do I need to know his reason. He is my host and I will take care of him when he is in need of it." The being stated, It was very obvious now that whoever this was, Had taken over Yoichi's body and had put him into a *semi*sleep state. "Now you will either leave this room and return when I have vacated it, Or you will not pester me further, Durriken Petulengro"

Durriken's left hand rose and rubbed his temples as he let out a frustrated sigh. That was the most expression his face showed as his brain planned for different outcomes. Already some of his more defensive spells rose to the top of his deck since he would not be the first one to strike if this rose to confrontation. He was not sure what was possessing Yoichi but the first step was to get him out of here and break this cycle. If that does not remove whatever is possessing him then he would have to look for a mage or possibly a priest with the ability of exorcism.
"You both need to leave and not just cause I want my office back. This isn't healthy for Yoichi to obsess over Riley in this way. If he didn't realize this then he truly didn't know her well, if she doesn't want to be found, she won't. I am the only one within this guild currently who has the skills, the connections, and the magic to find her. I won't help you find her since she made it clear she needed to leave, and when you truly care about someone, you know when to let them go."
He was not too worried about a combat with Yoichi. As long as it stayed within the walls of the guild he had an ace up his sleeve. This magic gave him strength here and worst comes to worst he could bind everyone within the guild to be unable to hurt another guild member with their magic. Therefore, if Yoichi was still able to hurt him with magic he deemed himself removed from the guild and Durriken would kick him out without a second thought.
"Did you ever consider this is why she told me and not you? I did not beg her to stay, or beg her to let me go with her. I wished her well and helped in any way I could in her journey."

"Yoichi stopped trying just 2 days ago, He realized that her leaving was for a reason that he didn't need to know, And if she was going to return then she'd return on her own accord. This is what he said and he meant that, However he still longed for her and you cannot fault him for that" The voice said softly as it continued to read "While you can fault him for not accepting her will as her will at first, You cannot fault a man for loving his fiance with a passion now can you? Such a thing would be hipocritical don't you think?" Yoichi slowly closed the book and set it aside as his head tilted up "He is not the one searching, I am. To calm his heart and make the pain go away I have placed him in a dormant state, When I awaken him he will be with Riley, One way or another. If you will not help, Then I will simply find another way. I am no fool Durriken, You are stronger then Yoichi currently is and you have ways of surpressing anything he can do currently. I do not fault you for wanting to stop his obsession. However, I must ask that you respect his wishes and allow me to continue my research in the place that makes him feel the safest. Should he be disturbed, There is no telling what might happen" As he spoke, The light that was being emitted got brighter and brighter, The runes slowly increasing in number across his body.
This would undoubtedly catch the attention of Durriken, Being one who worked with runes and all. He'd probably notice the runes that spelled out certain letters etching themselves just above his shirt collar and outside of his sleeves, Most notably the "Ri" near his sleaves, And "ey" at his collar. Durriken was a smart man, And he'd probably be able to put 2 and 2 together. But, Why were those runes spelling what they were? Was this something that Yoichi did? Or was it a result of the one who was possessing his body? It was definitely interesting that's for sure, For something to not just posses a Mage's body, But to surpress the host and take complete control....

For a fleeting moment in time, roughly half of the guild was eclipsed, cast into darkness, with flickering images of a large set of crimson wings. A feather roughly the size of an average human fell from the sky, landing in the courtyard alongside the giant bird that had perched on the side of the building. People in the streets below began to panic and run into their homes, and some mages of the guild seemed prepared to fight until the large form began to shrink into something much more familiar to them.
With a crimson glow of magic, the form of Atlas remained after the large bird had faded, perched atop the roof of the guild, peering down, and around. He pushed something out of his mouth (perhaps not the best case for safe keeping, but he was a little 'bird brained' at times - though quite intelligent, really, considering he was nothing more than a bird). He eyed the feather that had fallen from his wings, which some children had begun to play with, and without a sound tucked into a free fall from the highest point of the guild, seeming to be enjoying himself, or perhaps what he was about to do.
Swooping around, he circled the guild several times, noting how familiar it felt, before flapping towards a ledge. He went to pry the window open, only to find that it not longer slid open like it once had. Attempting to see into the room, he noted that he could not, for some reason, and this appeared to irk the birdman, whom shuffled about on a ledge. His animal senses, being a bird of prey, seemed to tell him that something was not right. He could feel something off, perhaps even a little malicious within the room. This worried him a bit, and without warning he rose a fist (which was clenched around the item he had earlier spit out), jamming it rather effortlessly into the glass and practically splintering it. It did a bit of a number his fist, as well as the floor, which was sprayed with shards, but after tucking his wings in he was able to enter the room.
It was rather easy to spot Yoichi, whom was glowing for some reason. The malicious aura seemed to make sense all at once. "Ah, causing your current guild master as much troubles as the last?" he taunted a little, pushing the glass beneath his feet aside carefully with the side of his foot. His eyes perhaps looked a bit mischievous as he looked towards Durriken, "greetings, guild master of Griffin Wing. My master bids you a good day... Though, I suppose I will ruin that a little, as I am here with cryptic messages." He paused a moment, tucking in his wings and purposely ignoring Yoichi at this point, "she wanted to ask something of you, but it is not something that I want to repeat as it collides with my own selfishness. Hmn..."

Yoichi looked back slightly as the glass broke "It seems we have a visitor of the avian variety" He said calmly as the bird entered through the window, His eyes narrowed slightly, Distinctly different from the last time Atlas saw him. When Atlas had finished talking Yoichi turned around to face him "You must be Riley Aquila's pet, Atlas. Yoichi seems to be quite fond of you though I don't know why." He muttered softly, It was mostly to himself though the two had undoubtedly heard him "Atlas...Where is Riley Aquila now? It is of importance that I find her as soon as possible" He said, His voice not really demanding, Rather....Asking. Though it was probably already obvious to Atlas that this wasn't actually Yoichi based merely off the way he spoke and the way he acted. Though Yoichi and Atlas hadn't spent much time together, It certainly was enough time for Atlas to know how Yoichi spoke and how he acted.

Durriken was reaching into the bag as the first sound of the window breaking occurred but once he noticed it was only Atlas he let go of the card he was about to draw and relaxed slightly. A small section of his forehead about his left eye twitched then when he saw the increasing damage done to the office. He did not want to spend too much right away as guild master but he might have to just to get the office back to the way it was before Riley left.
"It is no problem Atlas." He said simply "And you are quite correct but we must deal with these things as they come I suppose. Send your master my best regards."
When Yoichi asked Atlas where Riley was Durriken gave the bird a firm glare that clearly said 'Don't you dare tell him'. It was clear from the night she left that Riley didn't want Yoichi with her and it would just hinder her to have her trying to dodge him at every turn. He was sure that she could do so but would still be very annoying to have to hide or lay low from your own fiancé who was tracking you with the devotion bordering on the insane. |

You must not be speaking of the Yoichi that I knew, whom threatened me, if I recall," the birdman gave a bit of a snort, as he was well aware that it was likely no more than a ploy to get him to warm up to the man, whomever he was. He was Yoichi, but his senses told him that he was not at the same time. After a few moments he looked towards Durriken, raising a hand to jerk a thumb towards Yoichi, "So he has gone crazy already?" He asked, shaking his head a bit as the man proceeded to ask him where Riley was. The self proclaimed 'god of birds' took a few strides along the floor, seeming to be absently wandering as he continued to push glass away from the path that he was walking. It slowly dawned on him that Durri would likely be anger - which by extension meant that Riley would not be pleased if she found it.
The 'wings' attached to the sides of his head drooped a little, before suddenly ruffling as he thought up a simple solution to the problem, "the barkeep has the information to Riley's bank account... He should be able to pay for the window using that," the crimson winged man pointed out, rather easily noting that the guild master had given him a hard look when 'Yoichi' had asked him where Riley was. This made him chuckle a little. More than anything Atlas treasured his master, her well being, and her desires, so he had no desire of disclosing her location to Yoichi of all people.
Finally, he decided to acknowledge the question. Standing to his full height, he crossed his arms over his chest, closing his eyes for a moment, which disappeared in the strange red markings that crossed his face. As they reopened he spread his wings slightly, causing some stray papers and books to fall off of the desk. "Mmm, why should I tell you where my master is? You whom claimed to be so close to her, and yet had no idea of her suffering?" His feathers, from both sets of wings, began to ruffle and fluff out, suggesting that he was getting angry merely thinking of it, "you who caused her so much strife, and tried to make it all vanish to empty apologies," he began to chuckle, though it was a little dark, angry. Perhaps a tad cruel, even.
"Practically everyone else in this guild noticed. Even those that interacted with her far less than you..." He snorted, his eyes narrowing a little as he stared down the man, "aside that, if you were really intent on finding her, you would not be here. In fact, a fellow member of your guild already found her. If I recall, they are spending the night together... Alone," he grinned, allowing the statement to remain suggestive, he had already contemplated this conversation a number of times on the fly to Onibas.
"Ah, which reminds me. I have something to return to you," he suddenly spoke up, though he was a poor actor. It was clear that he had never once forgotten what he had early spat out into his hand. Carelessly, he tossed it towards Yoichi before refolding his arms. The man would discover that this was the ring that he had given to Riley, the engagement ring. With this, he braced himself, as he had a feeling that the man would not take the news well. His red eyes cast a sidelong glance to Durri, whom he had something to tell as well, though he thought it best to wait for Yoichi to do whatever it was he intended to do.

Though Yoichi grabbed it and looked at it, He made no visible reaction to it except to place it in his pocket, Still not taking his own off. He slowly closed his eyes, His hand reaching from his pocket to one of the several books on the table. He said nothing to Atlas or to Durriken, Made no reaction at all towards the ring that was visible. It was a good few minutes before he spoke again as he had begun flipping through pages "Atlas, Do you know exactly what has happened whilst Riley was away? No, Nevermind...Of course you don't" He muttered softly 'tch' He muttered to himself, Slowly closing the book "When Riley left, Yoichi was deadset on finding her, But he didn't know where to start. Lost in his own mind, Yoichi sought the only thing he could, His books. Not a single soul in this guild had their soul crushed as much as Yoichi did, Nobody felt more sorrow then he did, Not a single person. Riddled with guilt feeling this was his own fault, He locked himself away in this room, Never sleeping, Hardly eating...Yoichi lost himself in his magic. Nobody would help him, Durriken himself refused to even give a hint as to where she might go. Yoichi thought long and hard about where she might be, And traveled to numerous places in his 'sleep' if that is what you would call it, but never did he find her or any trace of her." He paused for a moment, Never looking up from the book that he had closed.
"After 3 day's, He gave up. He decided that if she didn't wish for him to be near her anymore, That if she wished for it to end, He'd accept that and move on...That's what he spoke and that is what he thought his heart truly wanted. However, What he truly wanted was to have Riley back in his arms, He would never overcome the grief that he is going through even still, Nobody here would understand his pain, That is why he locked himself away in this room. Being the room he spent his nights in, And being as how he spent them with Riley, He wanted to be alone for as long as possible. However, I would not allow him to deny what his heart truly wanted and as a result I placed him in a stasis inside his own mind, Where he believes he is still living out the rest of his life. I will keep him there until I find Riley for him, I will continue how he would've and I will fullfil his duties as he might." Once more he paused as he looked up at Atlas, His eyes now glowing the same purple hue that glew over his body "Tell me Atlas, When is the last time you lost a loved one? Someone who you couldn't stand being without?" He paused for a moment, But started again before Atlas could respond, Starting to move around the desk as he looked towards the ground "Durriken Petulengro, I ask the same question to you as well, and I ask you this also: If you were in Yoichi's position" He paused for a moment, Leaning down and picking up a single book and as he did, The glow around him got a bit darker "What would you have done? If you were left alone, After your loved one promised she'd never leave you again...After you tried your hardest to mend your wrongs? Do not think his words were empty bird, For Yoichi was heart broken when he broke his promise. From that very day, Yoichi was contemplating leaving himself, So that Riley wouldn't have to suffer what he did to her again." He turned back to the desk, Moving towards it and sitting down.
He placed the book on the desk and turned it open "Before you answer any of those questions...Or even start considering an answer, Answer this question first: If you had the chance...To end all of the worlds wrongs, To stop crime and poverty, To ensure nobody ever loses another loved one because of false reasons or unexplainable circumstances...If you had the chance to make the world into a utopia at the cost of your own life...Would you sacrifice yourself to ensure that happened?"
